Providing horticultural training, supported employment and education for people with a learning disability
The charitable aim of HORTICAP is to provide training in horticultural methods, allied crafts rural skills and the marketing of produce, for people with a learning disability who are deemed likely to benefit from such training.
In furtherance of this aim HORTICAP has its own objectives:
The provision (to meet group or individual needs) of an alternative or additional service for students or trainees to extend their skills, and to provide new experience, knowledge, interest, support and friendship, through appropriately structured training.
The utilisation of professionally qualified and suitable trained staff and, if appropriate, other voluntary assistance.
Promotion of further development of students or trainees according to their ability.
Liaison and co-operation with other approved voluntary or statutory agencies, parents or guardians, to foster the development of social and other skills.
Giving consideration to the possibilities of offering supported or enclave employment and, where appropriate, seeking out similar opportunities other than with HORTICAP.
The raising of adequate funds for the achievement of the foregoing aim and objectives by inviting and receiving contributions from any person or persons whatsoever, by way of subscription, donation, sales or otherwise.
